Marie Post certainly attracted our attention with these photos! Here's what she wrote:

"This Elizabethan costume was designed and constructed by Karen Bergquist.
The embroidery was planned and executed by Marie Post. The designs had to
coordinate and compliment the ivory and gold brocade that was being used and
really embellish the crimson velvet for the sleeves and forepart
(underskirt).

"Here are the embroidery stats, for those of you who are into the numbers.

"Time spent - 9 hours per sleeve, 2 hours on the forepart
"Thread used - 1,100 yards per sleeve, 300 yards for the forepart
"Designs - 34 motifs per sleeve, 8 motifs on the forepart

"Each piece was entirely backed with tearaway interfacing and the interfacing
was left in place to stiffen the final pieces. The placement marks were
done using a template made from a manila file folder and marked first with
disappearing marker and then thread traced. The marks weren't clear enough
to use on the velvet by themselves.

"We used two designs from the Elegant Accents collection to make these
pieces.

"The full story of the construction of the dress is detailed here :
